About the record:
Dard is one of those early 80s Hindi film soundtracks where Khayyam keeps things beautifully restrained. The arrangements are melodic and atmospheric rather than overly busy, giving the voices plenty of space. Lata, Kishore, Asha and Bhupinder all bring something different to the record, from the soft romantic mood of Na Jane Kya Hua to the much-loved Pyar Ka Dard Hai. It has that unmistakable Khayyam sound, warm, understated and a little melancholic.
This is the original HMV soundtrack from the 1981 film starring Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini. A lovely record for anyone into classic Hindi film music and the quieter, more poetic side of Bollywood soundtracks.
