A fantastic vintage soundtrack from one of the most famous musicals ever made. West Side Story brings together Leonard Bernstein's music and Stephen Sondheim's lyrics in a record that still feels incredibly energetic, dramatic and full of character.
This is the original 1961 film soundtrack, featuring the voices and performances associated with the movie, including Natalie Wood, Richard Beymer, Rita Moreno, George Chakiris and Russ Tamblyn. From Maria and Tonight to America, Cool and I Feel Pretty, there are so many instantly recognisable songs here.
The orchestration is what really makes this record special. It has that big early 60s movie soundtrack sound, but with plenty of rhythm and movement from Bernstein's score. A great addition to a collection of vintage soundtracks, Broadway records or classic Columbia LPs.
The record is in excellent condition. Not mint, but very well kept and ready to play.
